CooperRiis Healing Community, a progressive mental health treatment program for adults in North Carolina offers a blend of purposeful work in a therapeutic community along with clinical care that supports wellness. Supported by science, CooperRiis provides a person-centered, strength-based recovery approach.

Mental Health Treatment in a Residential Therapeutic Community

CooperRiis is residential treatment center and community integration program that promotes recovery and wellness for adults with mental health and psychiatric difficulties in a therapeutic community setting.

CooperRiis distinguishes itself from many clinical residential programs through its provision of a purposeful work program, therapeutic community, and integrative clinical care. Residents typically spend 20 hours a week engaged in work or community service—learning how to live a purposeful life.

To enable individuals to achieve their highest level of functioning and fulfillment, our programs also provide support through individual therapy, family work, group therapy, and psychiatric services. Holistic wellness is supported through integrative health specialists, whole food nutrition and exercise.

CooperRiis offers two residential settings. One is in the city of Asheville, North Carolina—a vibrant city with an array of healthy lifestyle and creative outlets. The other is in Mill Spring, North Carolina—a therapeutic farm with spacious and picturesque natural surroundings.

In addition to our main residential campuses, CooperRiis offers a continuum of community integration living options throughout western North Carolina to further support transition to independent living.
